Job Overview Key Responsibilities Locate and track the drill head during horizontal directional drilling operations. Work directly with directional drill operators to safely guide underground bore paths. Monitor drill depth, pitch, direction, and positioning throughout the bore. Identify and help avoid existing underground utilities and other potential conflicts. Assist with potholing, utility verification, and jobsite preparation as needed. Communicate continuously with drill operators and other crew members during drilling operations. Support the installation of underground conduit and fiber infrastructure. Follow construction plans, utility markings, bore profiles, and jobsite requirements. Maintain locating equipment and ensure tools are operating properly. Follow DOT, OSHA, company safety, and underground construction requirements. Assist other members of the underground construction crew when locating activities are complete. Required and Preferred Experience Previous HDD locating or directional drill locating experience is strongly preferred. Experience supporting underground fiber or telecommunications construction is preferred. Experience working with Vermeer equipment is highly preferred. Familiarity with Vermeer 20x40-class drills is a plus. Ditch Witch experience is also relevant. Knowledge of underground utilities, bore paths, and safe excavation practices. Ability to work closely with directional drill operators and underground construction crews. CDL is highly preferred; company-paid CDL training is available. Must be DOT eligible. Must be able to successfully complete required drug screening, background checks, and qualification screenings.

Pay:
