Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Driller Locator to join our horizontal directional drilling (HDD) team. This position will be supporting operations in Southern Wisconsin. The Driller Locator plays a critical role in the success of underground utility installation projects by accurately tracking and guiding drill head operations to avoid existing utilities and ensure precision bore paths.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate electronic locating equipment to monitor and guide directional drill heads during HDD operations. Communicate clearly and continuously with the drill operator to ensure safe and accurate drilling. Mark bore paths, utility crossings, and existing infrastructure using paint, flags, or other methods. Interpret job prints, maps, and schematics to understand the scope of the project and locate utilities. Assist with setup and breakdown of drill rig and associated equipment. Ensure bore paths comply with specifications, safety regulations, and project requirements. Document daily bore logs and field data as required. Work in coordination with utility locators to identify and avoid existing underground utilities. Maintain a clean and safe job site and adhere to company and OSHA safety standards. Provide support to the drill crew in various physical tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. 1+ year of experience in directional drilling or underground utility installation preferred. Proficient in using locating systems (e.g., DigiTrak, Subsite, or similar). Ability to read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and bore logs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physically fit; able to lift 50+ pounds and work in varying outdoor conditions. Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CDL is a plus). Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations related to HDD operations.
