Job Description

Job Description ITG Communications is hiring a Drill Operator in
Cheyenne, WY Purpose:
The Drill Operator is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install conduit, fiber, or utility infrastructure as part of construction projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of underground construction techniques and the ability to work safely and efficiently in diverse environments. Responsibilities Operate drilling rigs and support equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications Read and interpret construction prints, locate utilities, and mark underground services accurately Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance Ensure proper placement of conduit using bore logs and tracking systems Collaborate with field crews to set up equipment, mix drilling fluid, and pull back conduit or pipe Maintain accurate records of bore lengths, depths, and site conditions Adhere to all company and regulatory safety procedures and requirements Assist with potholing, locating, trenching, or other duties as assigned by supervisor Work in various terrain and weather conditions while maintaining productivity and quality Key Measures /

Bore accuracy and production efficiency Equipment condition and maintenance compliance On-time completion of assigned bores Safety record and incident-free days Accuracy of bore logs and documentation
Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
1-3 years of directional drilling experience or equivalent training Familiarity with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment a plus Ability to read construction plans and understand underground utility locates Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred

Works closely with field crews, foremen, and project managers
External:
May interact with utility inspectors, subcontractors, and site contacts Frequent work outdoors in varied weather and job site conditions Factors critical to success at ITG Communications for this position:

Effectively coordinates service integration across construction, field ops, and engineering
Responsiveness & Readiness:
Leads a proactive network services team prepared to maintain exceptional service levels Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs regularly Manual dexterity to operate drilling controls and hand tools Visual acuity for operating and monitoring bore path and tracking systems Tolerance for working around noise, dust, and heavy equipment Please note: This is a safety-sensitive position.
