JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
Electrical Field Technician I Position Summary Thompson Electric is seeking a dependable and motivated Electrical Field Technician I to support industrial and commercial electrical projects. This entry-level role works under the guidance of experienced electricians and field leaders to assist with installations, material preparation, equipment setup, and job site organization. The position offers hands-on experience and opportunities to develop the foundational skills necessary for long-term growth within the electrical trade. What Success Looks Like Reports to work on time, prepared, and ready to contribute. Follows instructions carefully and supports overall crew efficiency. Maintains a safe, organized, and professional work environment. Demonstrates continuous improvement in technical knowledge and practical skills. Completes assigned responsibilities accurately and reliably. Shows initiative and a commitment to learning the trade. Key Responsibilities Assist with the installation of conduit systems, including measuring, cutting, and preparing materials. Support cable and wire pulling activities using appropriate tools and techniques. Help stage, transport, and position electrical equipment and materials at job sites. Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory to ensure work areas remain organized and productive. Perform general labor duties associated with industrial and commercial electrical projects. Observe and comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Learn basic electrical concepts, industry terminology, and job site processes through on-the-job training. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project needs and task completion. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment in accordance with job requirements. Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor job sites. Successful completion of pre-employment background screening and drug testing. Preferred Previous experience in construction, general labor, maintenance, or skilled trades. Familiarity with hand and power tools. Interest in pursuing a long-term career in the electrical industry. Career Path The Electrical Field Technician I position is designed as an entry point into the electrical profession.
