Position Overview We are seeking a Prefabrication Detailer to join our team. The Prefabrication Detailer serves as the liaison between Prefab, VDC, Field Operations, and project teams, helping coordinate efforts, verify constructability, identify prefab opportunities, and support the field through coordination and follow-through. This role bridges design and field operations, ensuring prefabricated electrical assemblies are modeled, planned, and delivered with precision. The Prefabrication Detailer collaborates with project managers, VDC teams, field leadership, and the prefab shop to maximize prefab opportunities and streamline project execution. Key Responsibilities Serves as the primary liaison between Prefab, VDC, Field Operations, and project teams, coordinating efforts and ensuring alignment from project kickoff through installation. Collaborates with VDC teams to review models and ensure constructability. Works closely with field leadership to identify and manage prefab opportunities. Assists in creating and issuing prefab work packages, including drawings and assembly kits. Interprets construction drawings, specifications, and 3D models to develop detailed electrical installation layouts and prefabrication plans. Facilitates digital tool usage with field teams, including Navisworks, Stratus, and Bluebeam, to support prefab workflows. Conducts site visits to gather field feedback and make prefab adjustments as needed. Supports quality control by upholding prefab and VDC standards throughout the project lifecycle. Identifies constructability issues and proactively proposes solutions to improve efficiency and reduce rework. Participates in project planning meetings to identify prefab opportunities and provide detailing insights. Implements industry best practices and supports a Lean culture within the prefab and VDC team. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum:
High school diploma or GED. Five (5) or more years of experience in the electrical construction industry and with the full flow of an electrical project. Journeyman Electrical License and working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred:
Proficiency with Bluebeam, Navisworks, and Microsoft 365. OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of NEC, local electrical codes, and field construction practices. Knowledge of prefabrication workflows, modular assemblies, and field installation methods. Knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry regulations. Knowledge of project management techniques, including scheduling and prefab planning coordination. Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents. Skill in using digital construction tools, including Navisworks, Bluebeam, Stratus, and Microsoft 365. Ability to proactively identify prefab opportunities and problem-solve with a detail-oriented mindset. Ability to learn new tools and adapt workflows to support a Lean culture within the prefab and VDC team. Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across Prefab, VDC, Field Operations, and project teams as a trusted cross-functional liaison. Work Environment Semi-heavy work environment. Continuous indoor and outdoor work with exposure to physical, ergonomic, and/or emotional hazardous environment. Work requires lifting 50 pounds or more and while on site, following site mandated PPE requirements including wearing protective equipment; exposure to weather, noise, hazard; minimal climbing; and working under pressure.
