CA State Certified Journeyman Electrician - Solar

This is a 6 week Temp- Prevailing wage position Location- Lancaster, CA Locals applicants only as no per diem will be offered. Job Summary The Utility‑Scale Solar Electrician is responsible for installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on large‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants. This role supports corrective maintenance activities on ground‑mounted solar facilities, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with NEC, project specifications, and utility standards. Key Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain utility‑scale solar PV electrical systems, including: DC feeders, combiner boxes, recombiners Inverters (central and string) Medium‑voltage (MV) equipment, transformers, and switchgear (as qualified) Perform troubleshooting and corrective repairs on AC and DC systems to restore system performance Interpret and work from electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, wiring schedules, and construction prints Perform electrical testing including voltage, amperage, continuity, insulation resistance (megger), and grounding verification Support system commissioning activities, including energization, verification, and functional testing of PV electrical equipment Coordinate lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and assist with safe energization and de‑energization of circuits Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, site‑specific safety plans, and utility requirements Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions using reports or field applications Work closely with foremen, commissioning managers, QA/QC, and project management teams to resolve electrical issues Qualifications Valid CA State Journeyman Electrician license Prior experience on utility‑scale solar projects Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, grounding, and electrical safety practices Experience working in active construction or energized plant environments Ability to use electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and walk large project sites Preferred Experience & Skills Utility‑scale solar construction, commissioning, or O&M experience Experience with MV equipment, transformers, and inverter stations (as qualified) Conduit installation, cable pulling, and termination of large conductors Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently while following site procedures Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lancaster, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
