Time Base 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week. Duration of Appointment This is a regular/probationary position. Classification Lead Electrician Compensation Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.CSU Classification Salary Range:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of National and California Electrical Codes. Ability to read, interpret and work from plans and drawings. General knowledge of electrical tools and safety practices. General knowledge of electrical installation and maintenance. Ability to direct work of unskilled helpers. Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic functions. Physical strength to perform work assignments that required lifting/carrying (50lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance), standing, climbing, crawling, and walking required. Ability to learn and use a sophisticated computerized work system at a level commensurable with the position. Solid work history with emphasis on personal integrity. Follows all University and departments policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. electrical safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, arc flash hazards, and electrical safe work practices. Ability to utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably Planon, to document labor, materials, preventive maintenance activities, and work order completion. Working knowledge of medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, and related infrastructure. Ability to provide lead work direction, technical instruction, mentoring, and on-the-job training to electricians and apprentices. Ability to communicate effectively with campus customers, contractors, and university personnel while maintaining a high level of customer service. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence." Education and Experience Equivalent to a high school diploma and 1-2 years of experience as a journey-level electrician that included work coordination and lead responsibilities required. Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience preferred. Four or more years of journey-level electrical experience preferred. Position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency electrical outages or critical infrastructure failures. Position works around energized electrical equipment, medium-voltage systems, construction activities, elevated work areas, and other potentially hazardous environments. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.
