PRIMARY FUNCTION
Troubleshoot and determine cause of equipment failure or malfunction and repair, modify, install, and maintain electrical circuits, components and systems on buildings, site lighting, cranes, elevators, alarms, transformers, controls, and low to medium voltage cables and equipment. Understand and possess abilities to troubleshoot, have knowledge and experience in high (4160v) and medium voltage 480v 3-phase and below distribution systems, power centers and UPS centers.
Bend conduit:
Rigid. EMT and PVC, read blueprints and schematics, provide BOM for ordering, keep work area clean, perform underground work, pull wire and mount electrical hardware.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
General hand tools such as insulated pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers, knockout punch set and power tools. Company supplied electrical testing equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, current injection equipment, power factor meters, KW meters, meggers, thermal imaging camera, cable pulling equipment, battery testers, conduit benders, ladders, safety belts, safety glasses, gloves, arc-rated clothing, safety boots, padlocks, hardhat. Powered industrial equipment such as aerial lifts, electric carts, etc.
MATERIAL
Conduit, wires, fittings, coils, contactors, boxes, breakers, fuses, switches, receptacles, tape, wire connectors, terminations, light fixtures, bulbs, distilled water, fasteners, wire connectors, split bolts, terminal lugs, etc.
DIRECTION OF OTHERS
Direct electricians assigned to help in the installation and repair of all plant electrical facilities.
WORKING PROCEDURE
THE
FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
1\. Receive work assignment from Manager or Lead. 2\. Read and follow current NEC, National, State, Local electrical codes, OSHA and
NFPA 70E
regulations to apply safety standards to drawings, specifications and work authorizations. 3. Safely operate all powered industrial equipment (including aerial lifts, forklifts, and power tools) in strict accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company safety protocols. Ensure compliance with all Northrop Grumman Arc Flash safety requirements to include compliance with minimum approach distance. 4. Consistently utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—including but not limited to arc-rated clothing, safety glasses, hard hats, and Safety boots—in accordance with company policy and OSHA safety standards. 5\. Strictly adhere to company Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and
OSHA 1910.147
standards to ensure all hazardous energy sources are de-energized and isolated before performing any maintenance or repair. 6\. Collaborate with facility management, project managers, facility engineers, and other trades on electrical aspects of building projects, renovations, or equipment installations (excluding motor/control integration). 7\. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, and building plans for facility modifications or expansions. 8. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility-wide electrical systems, including power distribution panels, switchgear, transformers, breakers, bus ducts, for (4160 and less) voltage infrastructure. 9. Install, upgrade, and repair lighting systems (interior/exterior, LED retrofits, emergency/exit lighting), outlets, wiring, transformers, alarms and associated equipment throughout the facility. 10\. Run, bend, thread, and install conduit; pull and terminate wiring for facility power and general electrical needs. 11\. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues related to building power, HVAC electrical feeds, overhead doors and other facility support equipment. 12\. Perform scheduled cleaning, preventive and predictive maintenance (e.g. Infrared thermography, torque/tightness checks, load balancing) on building electrical systems, substations, feeders, branch circuits, and grounding systems to ensure reliability and compliance. 13\. Conduct electrical inspections, testing (e.g. insulation resistance, continuity, load calculations), and ensure systems meet NEC, OSHA, and facility-specific safety/compliance standards. 14\. Document and escalate any deficiencies, equipment wear, vulnerabilities, or safety hazards identified during inspections to the Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Engineer immediately. 15\. Update and maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and compliance documentation. 16. Ensure every panel has a panel/circuit directory that is updated after every add/change to that panel. 17\. Provide detailed post-PM summaries, technical reports, and root-cause summaries within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for any equipment found to be operating outside of manufacturer specifications. 18. Operate and maintain emergency generators. 19. Perform power switching in accordance with Northrop Grumman safety practices. 20\. Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. 21\. Make proper time charge entries and record data as required. 22\. Perform work of equal or lower classification as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a residential, commercial or industrial electrician.
  • US citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Journeyman, California State licensed Electrician.
  • Minimum 12 years' experience as an electrician in commercial or industrial environment.
