Peninsula Plastics Recycling, a division of the Merlin Group of Companies, is a plastics recycler and processor that specializes in the conversion of curbside PET bottles and containers from the California CRV system. With access to multiple streams of feedstock, Peninsula Plastics offers its Brand Customers ongoing infinitely recyclable and sustainable PET material helping to drive the Circular Economy. Its 180,000 square foot facility located in Turlock, CA produces an annual output of 60 million pounds of recycled PET flake and pellet that are FDA approved. The full-time dayshift position of Electrician is of extreme complexity requiring the ability to work and act both independently and with the collaboration of the operations team. As Electrician you are required to be a highly skilled and experienced electrician who has completed extensive training and possess certification in the industrial electrical space. The individual chosen for this position will be a key Team Player and decision maker. He or She will be providing full electrical support to Peninsula Plastic Recycling's industrial electric needs, playing an integral part in helping it achieve its 30% growth initiative over the next 2 years. Position Summary The Electrician is responsible for electrical construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance activities across the plant. This role requires expert-level technical competency, deep familiarity with industrial electrical systems, and strict adherence to applicable codes and standards including: NEC (NFPA 70)

  • Industrial Machinery Electrical Standard California Electrical Code California Title 24 Cal/OSHA Electrical Safety Orders The Electrician will manage electrical projects, support capital improvements, ensure code compliance, and lead risk reduction initiatives across the facility.
Responsibilities:
Safety Practice safe electrical work practices in accordance with
NFPA 70E , LOTO
procedures, and PPR safety rules. Participate actively on the Safety Team and champion electrical safety culture company-wide. Engineering & Documentation Prepare, review, and approve electrical drawings and documentation including: Single-line diagrams Panel schedules & panel layout drawings Electrical schematics Load calculations P&IDs Equipment lists, BOMs, SOPs, and work instructions Assist the Chief Automation Officer in developing I/O lists, alarms lists, and control architecture documentation. Installation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including: 120V / 240V / 480V systems MCCs, switchgear, breakers, soft starters, VFDs Industrial machinery per NFPA 79 Conduit, raceways, cable trays, and grounding systems Perform advanced troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on motors, control systems, and plant equipment. Lead corrective actions to eliminate recurrence. Compliance & System Optimization Conduct comprehensive electrical system Risk Assessments and develop actionable improvement plans.
Ensure all work adheres to:

arc-flash boundaries & PPE categories California Electrical Code Title 24 lighting and energy compliance Cal/OSHA Electrical Safety Orders Improve and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs inside the CMMS. Project Management Scope and source necessary materials, permits, and equipment. Coordinate with Project Managers, Chief Automation Officer, vendors, contractors, inspectors, and permitting agencies. Provide electrical support during emergency situations and unplanned downtime.
Requirements:
Education, Certification & Experience Minimum 3 years of experience as a Electrician in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Technical Skills Expert knowledge of:
NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA
79, Title 24, California Electrical Code Single-phase and three-phase power AC/DC motors, VFDs (multiple OEMs), soft starters Wye-Start Delta-Run systems Low-voltage control circuits Ability to read and generate industrial electrical drawings. Familiarity with CMMS systems (Fiix, Maximo, Manager+ or similar). Basic PLC troubleshooting or ladder logic programming experience (preferred). Competency Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills across multiple departments. Detail-oriented, compliance-minded, and capable of leading facility-wide electrical decisions. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a day shift position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work involves exposure to seasonal elements and temperatures, chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires physical work, lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is approximately 50% of the job.
  • Work environment involves exposure to materials and situations that require following safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment.

An employee's position within the pay range will be based on several factors to specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience and skills.
