About Legacy Electrical Service and Construction Legacy is a Vacaville-based electrical and construction contractor serving Solano, Napa, Yolo, Sacramento, and the greater Bay Area. We handle residential and commercial electrical, solar, and backup power — and we're growing our public works and prevailing wage division. We're not looking for volume. We're looking for a small number of electricians who do it right the first time, take pride in a clean install, and can be trusted on a job site without someone standing over them. The Role You'll run and support electrical scopes from rough-in through final inspection on a mix of private and prevailing wage public works projects — schools, municipal facilities, and commercial buildings — with residential and service work in the rotation. This is a hands-on field position reporting to the Field Foreman or Project Manager. You'll direct apprentices and trainees assigned to your crew. What You'll Do Install, alter, and repair electrical systems per the California Electrical Code, Title 24, and approved plans Read and work from blueprints, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications Layout, conduit bending and installation (EMT, rigid, PVC, flex), wire pulling, terminations, and trim Service changes, main panel upgrades, meter mains, subpanels, and feeders — including utility and AHJ coordination Install and commission EV chargers, generators and transfer switches, and solar PV interconnections Troubleshoot and diagnose faults using meters, testers, and diagnostic equipment Pass municipal and utility inspections; correct deficiencies promptly Direct and train apprentices while maintaining required supervision ratios Complete daily reports, accurate timecards, and certified payroll documentation on prevailing wage jobs Keep a clean, safe, organized work area and participate in tailgate safety meetings Required Qualifications — Please Read Before Applying These are hard requirements. Applications without them will not be considered. Active California State Certified General Electrician card issued by the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), current and in good standing. We verify. Documented completion of a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program. Classroom hours are required — on-the-job hours alone do not qualify. We accept completion from any DIR-approved program, including WECA, ABC, IBEW/JATC, or an approved community college program. Minimum 8,000 hours of documented on-the-job electrical experience Working knowledge of the California Electrical Code, Title 24, and local amendments Valid California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier Full set of journeyman-level hand tools Current on continuing education (32 hours per 3-year renewal cycle) Preferred OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Prior prevailing wage / public works experience Commercial and industrial experience Solar, generator, EV charging & commercial battery installation experience CPR / First Aid Compensation Base rate: $38.00 - $48.00 per hour , depending on verified experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level. This is your rate on private work — residential, service, and private commercial projects. We also run a steady volume of public works : school districts, community colleges, and municipal facilities. On those projects you are paid the applicable DIR prevailing wage determination for the county and classification, which is higher than the base range above and includes the required employer fringe payments. Overtime, shift differentials, and Saturday/Sunday/holiday premiums are paid per the applicable determination or California law, whichever is greater. Stand, kneel, squat, bend, and reach overhead for extended periods. Climb ladders and work at heights including roofs and lifts. Work in attics, crawlspaces, and confined spaces.
