An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description
Perform safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction Perform preventive maintenance, installation and repair of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment) Assist with troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment Perform other duties as assigned Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles Completion of an approved certified electronics, electrical and/or instrumentation program or minimum of two (2) years of experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance Basic experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical circuits and connected equipment Valid state drivers license Must have minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list (or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire date) Able to perform the essential functions of the job at the time of the job offer with or without reasonable accommodations Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety. High School diploma or GED Experience working with low and medium voltages Experience with AC and/or DC controls Experience with instrumentation devices Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
