An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.
Full-Time Job Summary Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance in a commercial, industrial, and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, control circuitry, and facility electrical equipment. This is a hands-on position that also requires the ability to support general multi-trade maintenance activities, including plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance as needed. Key Responsibilities Maintain primary and secondary electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts. Troubleshoot, maintain, test, and repair control circuitry and electrical systems. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs). Troubleshoot lighting systems, power panels, outlets, and electrical fixtures. Wire and install outlets using existing and underground raceways where applicable. Relocate and install electrical fixtures and equipment. Service and maintain batteries, transformers, and related electrical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair AC motor control systems. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and facility systems. Complete required PM documentation and maintenance records. Prepare and submit electrician reports documenting completed work. Inspect equipment and make recommendations to maintenance leadership regarding performance, repairs, or replacement needs. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans, schematics, and technical drawings. Respond to electrical emergencies and equipment failures as required. Assist with general multi-trade facility maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and applicable electrical safety requirements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma, electrical trade certification, or equivalent professional experience. Journeyman Electrician license OR successful completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship program required. 5+ years of electrical maintenance experience in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts.

Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, building codes, regulations, and ordinances. Previous experience estimating electrical labor, materials, and equipment is preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to respond effectively to emergency maintenance situations. Multi-Trade Responsibilities This position may also assist with general facility maintenance outside of electrical work, including: Basic HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting. Minor plumbing repairs. General building maintenance. Mechanical maintenance and repairs. Other facility support duties as assigned. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a licensed Journeyman Electrician or experienced electrical professional with strong industrial/commercial maintenance experience. Candidates should be comfortable troubleshooting electrical systems down to the component level, working with VFDs and motor controls, and supporting a wide range of facility maintenance needs.
