The work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Additional skills require sufficient knowledge to adjust gear trains, cams, levers, etc. Job Requirements May be required to perform other job-related tasks when requested. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas such as environmental, safety, and security. May be required to hold a CDL. Must have graduated from a vocational school/military technical school, electrical training program, or a certified electrician apprenticeship program and have at least three years practical experience in electrical repair and installations with a minimum of two years' experience in electrical installation/construction such as conduit bending, threading and fitting, wire pulling and terminating. Must have familiarity with the National Electrical Code. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. May be required to work under difficult physical and environmental conditions both inside and out.
