An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

$20 What's the Job? Measure, cut, and bend wired and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment, using hand tools Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools What's Needed? High school diploma or GED required Technical degree or certification preferred 1-5 years of relevant experience required Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills What's in it for me?
