Job Description
Performs electrical maintenance and repair of City properties. Maintains lighting and electrical functions of all City-owned properties and facilities, to include new construction.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position is supervised by the Operations Manager or designee.SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position acts as a supervisor to the Maintenance Technician. This position may also include supervision of part-time, volunteers or temporary workers as assigned. Troubleshoots lighting and electrical problems of City properties, including electric motors, generators and pumps (single and three phase) Maintains interior and exterior lighting of all municipal areas of the City, including recreational facilities Operates bucket truck for major repairs on high voltage outside lighting Performs electrical wiring changes on remodeling of facilities Installs computer and phone circuitry in all municipal buildings and grounds Removes old electrical outlets and installs new outlets and wiring Operates listed machines as required Responsible for the coordination, inspection, and record keeping of electric-related service contracts, such as providing access to City facilities, escorting when necessary, and electronic filing of inspection reports Instructs staff in the clean and efficient maintenance of work areas Ensures safe and efficient working order of equipment Performs regular inspections of equipment Ensures the preventive maintenance program is completed on schedule Plans and evaluates preventive maintenance schedules for assigned facilities and special projects Reviews work orders daily assigned to the unit, creates schedules, and assigns employees for same Ensures that all subordinate hours are logged into the work order system Maintains and completes accurate records. Document work in approved work order software; log hours in daily work orders and special projects Purchases equipment, parts and supplies used for facility maintenance. Track purchases on purchasing card and reconcile monthly. Monitor purchase order balances. Assists with development of short and long-range plans, as well as goals, objectives, and performance measurements as it pertains to electrical components. Gathers, interprets and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations Assists in the preparation of bid specifications for equipment, maintenance work, and special projects Prepares performance evaluations for assigned employees and presents the evaluation to the employee with necessary counseling or direction as needed. Performs payroll functions, verifies work times, reviews leave time, and finalizes timecards for the assigned unit. Efficiently and effectively develops work schedules for entire unit based on priority. Tracks spending on purchasing card, reconciles monthly statements, and monitors purchase order balances. Trains staff on procedures, operation of equipment, and standard protocols as necessary Position requires after hour response to electrical failures and other technical advice or guidance. Response can be through telephonic verbal consultation or may require a physical response to a city facility as needed. Communicates effectively with all staff, both verbally and in writing, on a daily basis Enforces City rules and regulations Assists in the preparation of estimates of labor, material, and equipment needs, upon request Works within budgetary limitations Performs duties as assigned during emergency response conditions Performs any other related duties as required or assigned and responds to emergency calls as needed.PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Ability to operate and maintain City-owned vehicles as department needs require High School diploma or equivalent, and Vocational/technical training in electrical systems, and Journeyman Electrician license required, and Considerable experience in a related field, or Any related combination of training and experience Valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record Journeyman Electrician license required.Similar jobs in Riviera Beach, FL
