Job Description

Summary :
The Industrial/Electrical Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment at the Authority. The Industrial/Electrical Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable and safe operation of machinery and infrastructure within the Authority's facilities through troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and responding to electrical malfunctions, thereby minimizing downtime and maintaining productivity.

None. May train other maintenance technicians.
Major Duties:
Review and/or complete daily work orders, submitting them promptly. Read and understand electrical schematics and technical manuals. Perform lift station, booster pump station and building maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment. (pumps, motors, gearboxes, etc.). Maintain a continuous and efficient plant performance to ensure a safe and clean effluent; maintain accurate records of equipment. Check SCADA for alarms and problems. Inspect, maintain, and understand operations of satellite treatment plants. Assist with removing blockages and repairing broken lines. Perform building maintenance. Required to be on call. May be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Water and Sewerage Authority standards and practices. Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operating principles, practices, and equipment. Skill in the use of PLC, computers, and job-related software programs. Skill in the use of a multimeter and other associated electrical diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of pumps. Knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation. Familiarity with the tools, machines, and equipment used in the workplace. Extensive knowledge of company safety policies, applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and other industry standards. Ability to conduct training. Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical controls. Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Possess and demonstrate excellent communication and interaction skills. Must be accurate, detailed, reliable, and able to initiate and follow through on projects and tasks with minimal supervision. Must have the ability to be proactive and troubleshoot. Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible experience in industrial/electrical maintenance, which includes project management and/or administrative responsibilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated, including but not limited to a Class A CDL. Possession of or ability to readily obtain various industry licenses as required by the Authority. Preferred technical certification in industrial electrical repair or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed within the field, warehouse, laboratory, plant, or office setting while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold or inclement weather. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. The employee must occasionally lift and be able to move objects of up to fifty pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, in various environmental conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers, including confined spaces.
