INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN
to be based in
PORT WENTWORTH, GEORGIA.
As an industrial electrician, you will be required to conduct general maintenance inspections, perform routine electrical maintenance, respond to faults and wiring issues, and install major electrical equipment. To ensure success as an industrial electrician, you should have high-level problem-solving skills, extensive experience working with industrial electrical systems, and good communication skills.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all functions of the job in a safe manner and promptly reports any unsafe behaviors to the shift supervisor. Complies with all company and customer safety policies and procedures. Make decisions based on technical documents. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Completes electrical tasks properly and in timely manner for all types/sizes of electrical & conduit installations/terminations. Organizes materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work areas. Mentors and provides Helpers/Mechanics with training. Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of industrial equipment, such as: electrical motors, motor starters, push button stations, circuit breakers, disconnects, etc. Troubleshoot motor and control systems and perform quality testing and inspections. Install various types of raceway and cable tray systems Install electrical panels, circuit breakers, transformers, lights or other components. Install and maintain lighting, fire detection, communication, clock, motor control, machine tool, conveying, process and distributive control systems. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Install and terminate single and multi-conductor power, control, instrumentation and computer data cable Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and test equipment including ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, test lamps, etc. Work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Install conduit (pipes or tubing) outside and inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications. Install metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment. Adhere to all quality and safety codes Adhere to an absolute lock-out policy, ensuring that the power source is turned off, machine locked out, and tested to ensure isolation. Other duties as assigned.
Industrial Electrician Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. At least 3 years of recent industrial electrical experience Technical degree or certifications in electrical work is preferred Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment. Experience with relays, switches, motors, timers, electric devices, circuit boards, and PLC troubleshooting Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents. Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lift heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc. Must pass drug screen and background check. No per diem and no relocation funding.
