An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES
- Ability to work well with others.
- Willing to follow safety instructions and listen to supervisors.
- Willing to attend training.
SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Two or four-year degree from an accredited school or technical college, or two years' experience in the electrical maintenance field.
- Experience with AC and DC Drives, variable frequency drives, PLC and motor controls along with all types of electrical phasing.
- Be able to calibrate, clean, troubleshoot, and maintain various types of instrumentation including but not limited to: flow tubes, flow transmitters, DP cells, pH probes, level transmitters, and ozone monitors.
- Be able to troubleshoot and repair magnetic separators by replacing control boards, SCR's, diodes and other components as necessary working with assistance from outside sources when required.
- Be able to perform preventative maintenance on circuit breakers in various brands of switchgear, switchboards, panel boards, and other service equipment.
- Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and schematics.
- Be able to size thermal overloads for all brands of motor starting equipment.
