Pay Grade:
11 Job Summary Operate, maintain and repair college physical plant equipment and systems on all campuses in a safe, efficient and effective manner. Essential Functions Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and/or handle all repairs for electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, hazardous chemicals and related college equipment on all campuses, in accordance with all regulations and codes; involves lifting, pushing and pulling equipment. Install new and alter existing electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC and college equipment. Provide information and recommendations for the creation of blueprints for above and below ground mechanical/electrical systems. Utilize blueprints for new and repair projects. Assist automation system analyst in troubleshooting malfunctions; repair and installation of energy management controls on all campuses to ensure proper operation of equipment for energy consumption savings. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Three years hands on work experience in the operation, maintenance and repair in any or all fields of air conditioning, heating/ventilating and related equipment, electrical systems and plumbing. Completion of a related vocational training program equivalent to at least one year/30 semester credits. (One additional year of the required work experience may substitute for the vocational training.) Ability to move 75 pounds and climb 30 ft. extension ladders. Valid Iowa Drivers license with satisfactory driving record. Refrigerant Transition and Recovery universal certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds. Desired Qualifications Five years hands on work experience and strong working knowledge in any or all fields of air conditioning, heating/ventilating and related equipment, electrical systems and plumbing. Experience with roof-top units and chiller troubleshooting and repair. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
