Job Title:
Commercial Electrical Apprentice Job Description We are seeking motivated electrical apprentices to join our dynamic team. As a premier electrical contractor in Iowa, we handle a wide range of projects including commercial, residential, utility, solar, audio-video, service, and fire projects throughout Iowa and Omaha, NE. This role will support journeymen with day-to-day tasks, gaining valuable experience in the field. You will learn essential skills such as running and bending conduit, pulling cable, hanging boxes, and installing fixtures. While previous electrical experience is not required, a strong desire to learn and grow in the trade is essential. Responsibilities Assist journeymen in daily tasks on commercial, residential, and multifamily projects. Run and bend conduit, pull cable, and install electrical components. Use hand and power tools correctly and safely. Read and interpret tape measures accurately. Commit to learning through shadowing, training, and attending trade school. Essential Skills Basic knowledge of electrical systems including conduit, wiring, and troubleshooting. Experience with hand tools such as screwdrivers and hammers. Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and division. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid driver's license. Prior experience in construction, blueprint reading, or general labor is a plus. Experience with electrical wiring, conduit bending, and solar panel installation is advantageous. Capability to bend, twist, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with optional overtime on Saturdays. We emphasize work-life balance and do not push excessive overtime. Dress in jeans with no holes, professional t-shirts, and work boots. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. Candidates should have basic hand tools and a pouch for daily tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
