Job Description

Are you looking for hands-on, physical work with a hardworking team? The DeLong Co. is hiring a Seasonal Elevator Operator at our Ridgefield location — someone who can safely handle grain, keep the facility running smoothly, and pitch in wherever needed.
SCHEDULE
Typically 40-45 hours per week. This is a seasonal role that runs through harvest (approximately September through December) and will require weekends, with hours increasing to 65-75 per week during the busiest stretch of the season.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Elevator Operator, you'll support day-to-day facility operations. Day to day, you will: Safely dump and load grain trucks Keep the facility clean and organized with daily housekeeping and recordkeeping Observe and participate in grain handling operations Assist with mobile equipment operation Open and close railcar hopper gates and lids Inspect and document fall protection equipment Support digital documentation and permitting for specific operations Follow all safety training requirements and PPE policies Lend a hand with preventative maintenance and millwright tasks Take part in weekly safety training
WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
Basic computer skills to complete online training modules Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers A safety-first mindset and willingness to speak up about unsafe practices Ability to lift 40 lbs. repeatedly Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and adverse conditions, including dusty environments Able to climb to the top grain leg platform and work safely within platform handrails High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Comfort with basic math — percentages, decimals, multiplication Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge Familiarity with the General Code of Operating Rules for railcar safety
