Proviso Custodial and Maintenance Union SEIU Local 73, CTW Reports to: Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead;Director of Buildings and Grounds Main Job Duties:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, outlets, lighting, and equipment rated from low voltage to 480 volts. Troubleshoot and repair motors, transformers, panels, disconnects, and lighting systems. Install and maintain low-voltage systems, including fire alarms, security systems, intercoms, and building automation controls. Maintain and repair school clocks and timing systems to ensure accuracy and synchronization. Perform predictive maintenance, inspecting electrical systems and equipment to identify potential failures before they occur. Replace or repair faulty wiring, switches, fixtures, and components, following safety codes. Assist with electrically controlled door hardware such as locks, closers, strikes, and keycard access systems. Maintain tools, materials, and equipment in safe working condition. Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, and local codes. Collaborate with other maintenance, HVAC, and construction teams on facility projects. Enter school dude for building repairs and closeout when complete Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of electrical theory, circuits, and safety procedures. Experience with low-voltage and high-voltage (up to 480V) systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Skilled in using multimeters, hand tools, and power tools. Understanding of predictive maintenance techniques (thermography, vibration analysis, etc.) is a plus. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong safety awareness. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Education and Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred. State or local electrician license (Journeyman or equivalent) preferred or required depending on jurisdiction. Knowledge of NEC codes, OSHA safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures. Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or on rooftops.Compensation & Benefits :
