Position Overview:
The Journeyman Electrician is a licensed professional who has successfully completed a Department of Labor (DOL) apprenticeship program (or equivalent) and passed the Journeyman certification exam. This role is responsible for independently installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across residential, commercial, industrial, and renovation projects. The Journeyman Electrician plays a key role in ensuring high-quality work, safety compliance, and efficient project execution. Key Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems using hand tools and power tools across various project types Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to execute accurate wiring layouts and system configurations Test electrical circuits using tools such as multimeters and ohmmeters to ensure proper functionality and safety Work with low voltage wiring, high voltage systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) Collaborate with construction teams, frame carpenters, and other trades to coordinate work on job sites Conduct inspections of electrical systems throughout project phases to ensure compliance with NEC standards and safety regulations Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including inspection logs, incident reports, and as-built drawings Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and safety policies Assist in guiding and supporting apprentices and less experienced team members as needed Education & Experience Valid Journeyman Electrician license required Completion of a DOL-approved apprenticeship program or equivalent Proven experience working as a residential, commercial, or industrial electrician Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and safety procedures Experience with PLC systems and automation is preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings Strong knowledge of NEC codes, electrical systems, and safety regulations Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Adaptability to changing construction environments while maintaining safety and efficiency Basic carpentry or general construction knowledge is a plus
