Job Title:
Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems for commercial projects, with a strong focus on conduit work, wiring, and commercial lighting. You will interpret blueprints and schematics, plan and execute electrical layouts, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards on large commercial job sites. Responsibilities Bend, run, and pull conduit ranging from 3/4 inch to 4 inch EMT and IMC for commercial installations. Plan electrical layouts for commercial projects, including routing of conduit, wiring, and placement of fixtures and equipment. Install, maintain, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for commercial lighting systems. Pull and route wire through conduit systems in accordance with project plans and electrical codes. Terminate wires safely and accurately at panels, fixtures, and equipment following schematics and wiring diagrams. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical layouts to complete installations correctly and efficiently. Work safely in both indoor and outdoor environments, including in extreme weather conditions when required. Use hand and power tools, including a personal 12V drill, to complete daily tasks efficiently. Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more independently as part of regular job duties. Collaborate with other electricians and construction trades on large commercial projects to meet schedules and project deadlines. Adapt to changing project needs, including working extended hours and additional days as required to support project timelines. Follow all site safety rules, wear appropriate attire and personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Essential Skills 3-10 years of electrician experience, preferably in a commercial setting. Proficiency in bending conduit from 3/4 inch to 4 inch EMT and IMC. Strong skills in running and pulling conduit for commercial installations. Experience pulling wire through conduit systems on commercial projects. Ability to terminate wire accurately and safely at panels, fixtures, and control equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical layouts, and schematics. Hands-on experience with commercial electrical construction and installations. Capability to lift 50+ pounds independently on a regular basis. Ownership of basic electrical hand tools suitable for commercial work. Ownership of at least a 12V drill with battery and charger for daily use. Comfort working both indoors and outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions. Ability to work standard daytime hours with flexibility for overtime and extended schedules as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working on large commercial projects with multiple phases throughout the year. Familiarity with commercial lighting systems, fixtures, and control equipment. Experience working from detailed construction drawings and coordinating with other trades. Comfort communicating in Spanish is welcome, in addition to other languages. Strong attention to safety, quality, and adherence to electrical codes and standards. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including occasional six-day workweeks. Reliable transportation to reach various commercial job sites as needed. Why Work Here? Standard hours typically run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of longer days based on project needs, schedules, and deadlines. Initial work is scheduled on a major commercial project, with future phases potentially moving to a six-day workweek and offering substantial overtime opportunities. The work setting is a construction environment that requires consistent use of hand and power tools, adherence to safety protocols, and coordination with other trades on active job sites. The dress code includes work boots, jeans, and a T-shirt without holes; shirts must have sleeves to meet safety and site requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fishers, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
