Job Description
Automation Machine Tool Electrician The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN is seeking experienced Machine Tool Electricians to join our maintenance team. As a Machine Tool Electrician, you will troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain complex domestic and foreign machine tools and automated manufacturing equipment used in milling, drilling, grinding, and machining cast iron and steel components. This Machine Tool Electrician position requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, automation experience, and the ability to support a wide variety of CNC machine tools and industrial equipment. Responsibilities Perform electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance as a Machine Tool Electrician on CNC machine tools and industrial manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot and repair machine tools including Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis grinders, Waldrich Coburg (Waco), Burkhardt & Weber, Ingersoll, Toyoda, DMG, and other large machining centers. Troubleshoot and maintain related equipment including P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, and ABB robots. Diagnose and repair industrial automation systems, CNC controls, electrical components, PLC-controlled equipment, motors, drives, sensors, and machine control circuits. Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, machine controllers, and other components supporting automated machine tools. Read and interpret electrical schematics, machine tool prints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings while working with tight tolerances. Perform machine leveling, alignment, electrical testing, wiring modifications, and system commissioning. Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while supporting production schedules. Work overtime as needed to meet production demands. Basic Qualifications Successful completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship or extensive experience as a Machine Tool Electrician maintaining industrial machine tools and automated manufacturing equipment. Experience supporting industrial automation equipment and CNC-controlled manufacturing systems. Experience with Burkhardt & Weber, Waldrich Coburg (Waco), and Ingersoll large machining centers.
