We are committed to quality workmanship, safety, and long-term customer relationships. We are currently seeking a skilled Generator Technician to join our growing service team. Position Summary The Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of standby and portable generator systems. This role ensures reliable power solutions for our customers and supports emergency, preventive, and scheduled service operations. Key Responsibilities- Install, commission, and service standby and portable generators (diesel, natural gas, and propane)
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, load bank testing, and inspections
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Troubleshoot transfer switches (ATS) and related switchgear
- Conduct fuel system, cooling system, and exhaust system inspections
- Perform start-up testing and operational verification
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed
- Communicate findings and recommendations to customers and supervisors
- Follow company safety policies, OSHA standards, and manufacturer guidelines
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
- Support installation crews when required Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED (Technical training preferred)
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience working with generators and power systems (preferred)
- Experience with brands such as Briggs & Stratton, Generac, Cummins, Kohler, or Caterpillar (preferred)
- Knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and mechanical components
- Ability to read electrical schematics and service manuals
- Familiarity with ATS systems and emergency power codes
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass background and drug screening Required Skills & Competencies
