Job Title:
Electrician Job Description This role focuses on wiring and assembling manufactured structures in a production environment, including pulling wire, bending rigid conduit, installing control systems and lighting, and ensuring all finished products meet electrical specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities Wire manufactured structures in an assembly and sub-assembly environment, following electrical schematics and layout drawings. Pull and route wire through structures, panels, and conduit in an organized and safe manner. Bend and install rigid conduit to support wiring and control system layouts. Install and connect control systems, including reading and interpreting schematic symbols and circuit layouts. Perform wire terminations, including splicing, stripping, and connecting conductors according to specifications. Work with multiple voltages, primarily 120V, 240V, and 480V, while following proper safety practices. Install lighting and related electrical components to meet design and code requirements. Use electrical tools such as wire strippers, volt meters, crimpers, and multi-meters to perform installations and checks. Diagnose and troubleshoot basic electrical issues, including blown fuses, faulty switches, and loose connections. Read and interpret electrical prints and schematics to plan and complete assembly tasks. Verify that completed electrical assemblies and installations meet required specifications and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely. Collaborate with team members in a manufacturing environment to meet production schedules and project deadlines. Essential Skills Previous electrical experience working with different voltages (experience with 120V, 240V, or 480V; does not need to include all three). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and understand symbols and circuit layouts. Ability to pull wire and route it correctly through structures and conduit. Ability to manage wire, including splicing, stripping, and making secure connections. Experience with conduit bending, specifically rigid conduit. Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical issues such as blown fuses, faulty switches, and loose connections. Experience with electrical assembly, wire assembly, cable pulling, and low-voltage work. Proficiency using electrical tools including wire strippers, volt meters, crimpers, and multi-meters. Ability to read prints and schematics accurately in a manufacturing setting. Ownership of basic hand tools such as wrenches, tape measure, and sockets. Ownership of steel-toe footwear suitable for a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous electrical schooling or formal training in the electrical field. Experience with wire harness assembly and control system installation. Interest in pursuing an electrical apprenticeship and growing within the trade. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility focused on electrical and structural assembly. The role follows a first-shift schedule, working four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional work on Fridays and a usual range of 40 to 48 hours per week. Work involves hands-on tasks such as pulling wire, bending rigid conduit, wiring control systems, and using tools like wire strippers, volt meters, crimpers, and multi-meters. The environment is production-oriented, with assembly and sub-assembly stations and a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and meeting production timelines. Steel-toe footwear and appropriate work attire are required for safety in the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
