Lawrence, KS (In Office) Electrician
- Transition to BIM / Preconstruction (Office Role) Use your field experience to influence projects before they are built.
VDC Specialists is hiring electricians who want to move out of installation work and into the planning and coordination side of construction. In this role, you'll help determine how electrical systems get installed before crews arrive onsite. Routing conduit, identifying conflicts, and improving constructability across complex projects like data centers, hospitals, and large commercial builds. You won't be hired for software knowledge. You will be hired for electrical knowledge, we train the tools. What You'll Do Plan conduit routing and installation methods Review electrical drawings and specifications for constructability Apply field experience to layout electrical systems Identify clashes and installation conflicts before construction Support prefabrication and build-sheet development Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other trades Participate in coordination and problem-solving meetings You'll learn to apply this using Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam. What We're Looking For Electrical experience (commercial preferred) Experience running and bending conduit, pulling wire, installing supports, etc. Strong blueprint reading ability Understanding of electrical installation practices and code Willingness to learn and work in an office setting full-time Nice to Have (Not Required) Foreman or leadership experience Experience coordinating with other trades Experience solving layout or installation challenges in the field Why This Role Get out of the field while staying in the electrical industry No travel, no job sites Consistent Monday-Friday schedule (8am-4pm) Overtime work available Paid training in BIM and construction technology Long-term career path into design, coordination, and VDC Benefits Paid health insurance Dental + vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off + holidays About VDC Specialists Since 2018, VDC Specialists has supported over 43 million square feet of construction projects nationwide.
