Job Description
Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrician to join our team at Fort Campbell. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment in military buildings and facilities. This position requires expertise in troubleshooting electrical issues, ensuring system efficiency, and complying with safety regulations. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe and reliable electrical infrastructure at Fort Campbell. Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment in buildings and facilities. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues in a timely and efficient manner. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure reliability and safety. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to install or repair electrical systems. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, repairs, and inspections. Collaborate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and facility personnel to complete projects and resolve issues. Identify and recommend improvements to electrical systems for energy efficiency and safety. Respond to emergency electrical issues and provide timely resolutions. Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or inefficiencies. Maintain knowledge of new electrical technologies and best practices in the field.
Qualifications:
Journeyman licensed High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in electrical systems is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair. Valid state electrician license or certification. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, circuitry, and power distribution. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and using electrical testing equipment. Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and OSHA safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently. Ability to work in various environments, including indoors, outdoors, and at heights. Must pass a background check and meet government requirements to work on a military installation.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience working on military bases or in government facility maintenance. Familiarity with energy-efficient electrical systems and controls. Certification in energy-efficient or green technologies. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions. Ability to stand, climb ladders, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments.
Experience:
5 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and control systems. Familiarity with different types of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments. Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical system malfunctions, using testing equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes to pinpoint issues. Ability to safely and efficiently resolve electrical problems in a variety of settings.
