Job Description

Help keep Louisiana's roads and bridges safe while building a long-term career in public service. This position offers hands-on work, paid training, and opportunities for career growth within DOTD. At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving. Please visit our DOTD Career Center for more information about our agency. Positions are located in Hammond, LA, District 62 / Unit 970 and report to the Highway Foreman 2. Applicants that have experience in bridge maintenance and electrical are encouraged to apply. Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Three years of experience or training in the electrical trade. Job Duties:
Assists in performing technical, highly skilled electrical maintenance on moveable and stationary bridges, including work on hydraulic systems such as generators, transfer switches, pumps, cylinders, hoses, filters, control valves, grid couplings, locks, wedges, and barriers. Supports maintenance and repair of single-phase (120/240v), three-phase (277/480v), and utility plant electrical systems (13,500v), as well as electronically operated bridge systems and marine electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Assists in electrical maintenance and lighting for DOTD buildings, rest areas, and district projects, including lighting systems, restrooms, sewage plants, water wells, blowers, motors, compressors, and control equipment. Assigns tasks to Electrician Specialists and inspects their completed work to ensure compliance with NEC standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. Inspects and reports on contractor-performed electrical work to verify quality, adherence to specifications, and timely completion. This role requires reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to adapt to changing work conditions.

Compensation:
The starting salary for Electrician Specialist will be $21.05 /hour. Additional compensation may be considered impart with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy. Please list all work experience on your application. Licensing Requirements:
May require a valid Louisiana Class D License prior to permanent appointment or start date, depending on assignment.
