Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Electrician to join our client's dynamic shipyard team in Lockport, La that is dedicated to maintaining and repairing electrical systems aboard marine vessels. This vital role involves troubleshooting, installing, and servicing electrical components to ensure optimal vessel performance and safety. The Marine Electrician will work closely with other technical specialists, utilizing advanced schematics and technical manuals, to deliver top-tier maintenance and repair services. Duties Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on marine vessels using schematics and technical drawings. Conduct routine maintenance on electrical components, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and control systems. Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters to perform repairs accurately. Fabricate and modify sheet metal or other structural components as needed for electrical installations or repairs. Perform rigging tasks related to electrical systems, ensuring secure mounting and proper cable management. Assist with mechanical tasks such as vehicle maintenance or heavy lifting during installation or repair processes. Follow safety protocols diligently while working with high-voltage systems or in confined spaces; ensure compliance with maritime safety standards. Collaborate with team members to complete assembly projects and conduct system testing before vessel deployment. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance and future reference. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with vessel crews regarding system status and maintenance schedules. Skills Proven service technician experience with electrical systems in marine or industrial environments. Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams. Extensive electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge relevant to marine applications. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, calipers, heavy lifting techniques, and fabrication tools such as welding equipment. Experience in rigging, sheet metal work, welding, and the use of precision measuring instruments like ohmmeters. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly. Ability to perform precise assembly work using various mechanical tools; attention to detail is essential for ensuring system integrity.
Requirements:
Must be able to read blue prints and schematics 3-5 years of shipyard or marine experience We offer daily per diem if traveling over 100 miles. Affordable housing is available for $50/week.
