Job Description

Position Summary The Electrical Panel Builder is responsible for the layout, assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical control panels and related systems used in marine and heavy industrial applications. This role requires the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable electrical standards and customer specifications. Major Responsibilities Assemble, wire, and build industrial electrical control panels, junction boxes, and related equipment from engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Layout and mount electrical components, subpanels, instruments, relays, PLCs, terminal blocks, drives, and other control devices within enclosures. Perform point-to-point wiring of control circuits, instrumentation, and power distribution systems. Route, bundle, label, and terminate wiring neatly and in accordance with company and industry standards. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, ladder diagrams, bills of materials, and technical manuals. Conduct continuity checks, wire pull tests, torque verification, and functional testing using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment. Identify and document drawing discrepancies or wiring issues and communicate revisions to engineering or supervision. Maintain accurate "as-built" drawings, project documentation, labor tracking, and testing records. Assist with troubleshooting, commissioning, startup, and field installation activities when required. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer inspections as needed. Ensure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable electrical codes and standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Collaborate with engineering, production, project management, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to quality expectations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in electrical systems or industrial technology preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical panel building, industrial electrical assembly, or control systems wiring preferred. Experience in marine, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments preferred. Experience with PLC controls, instrumentation, motor controls, MCCs, and low/medium voltage systems is a plus. Skills & Abilities Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Working knowledge of electrical standards and codes including NEC. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and electrical testing equipment. Strong understanding of industrial control wiring, electrical assemblies, and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to recognize electrical symbols and follow point-to-point wiring instructions accurately. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality, error-free work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to work in industrial shop and marine environments, including exposure to noise, dust, heat, and outdoor conditions. Must be able to safely operate shop equipment and tools. Must be willing to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
