Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
: The Plant Electrician position has the primary responsibility of having a strong knowledge of electrical systems while also being required to perform mechanical duties for ensuring the preventative maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled repairs for equipment on the production line and supporting systems including but not limited to PLC's, VD's, motor controls and troubleshooting, and working with power up to and including 480 volts as well as preparing adjustments, troubleshooting preventative maintenance, and rebuilding of plant equipment to include: blending/packaging/warehouse equipment and systems such as conveyor systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other support equipment while also supporting activities such as production changeovers working in a team based environment.Primary Function:
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on industrial electrical equipment, controls, instrumentation and power distribution systems (up to 480V). Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in production and packaging machinery, such as fillers, conveyors, palletizers, pumps and blending systems. Work with electronic control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)s. Install, maintain, and inspect electrical systems ranging from low voltage (23VDC) to high voltage (480VAC). Calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation for process control, including flow, pressure, level, and temperature sensors. Interpret and follow electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to perform repairs and installations. Complete detailed work orders and maintain records of maintenance and repairs in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Bend, Thread, and install various types of conduits (e.g., GRC, EMT). Knowledge of Ethernet Cabling, Ethernet Switch Technology and VLANS. Ability to install, test and troubleshoot the company network/communication infrastructure. Collaborate with production, operators, mechanics and other maintenance staff to minimize production downtime. Adhere to all local, state and national electrical codes, as well as company safety and quality standards. Responsible for Compliance with all Epic GMPs & Safety Policies. Participate in the installation and commissioning of new or upgraded production assets. Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED
High school diploma or GED equivalent Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification Proven experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in the food and beverage industry. Strong experience with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and VFDs. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints. Solid knowledge of electrical safety practices (e.g., NFPA 70E) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Experience with process instrumentation is highly desirable. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.TECHNICAL SKILLS DESIRED
: Proficiency with PLC's, HMI's, VFDs, and motor controls. Solid understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, and thermal scanners. Solid understanding of ethernet cabling and network infrastructures.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, typically up to 50lbs. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, which may involve noise, varying temperatures and humidity. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work in elevated and confined spaces. Manual dexterity and excellent color vision to handle wiring. Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods.Job Type:
