County of Norfolk Maintenance Department Foreman Electrician Monday- Friday 7:30-3:30

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe, comfortable, and functional environment in all Norfolk County buildings in a cost-effective, customer-oriented manner that helps the County fulfill its mission of service it its stakeholders, faculty, and community and protects the capital investments made by the Norfolk County Commissioners. Essential FunctionsPrimary Responsibilities
  • Supervises and assists in the installation and maintenance of electrical wiring systems, electrical appliances, generators, service equipment, load centers, transformers and all other electrically operated equipment, devices and systems throughout the County owned properties.
  • Work from work orders, oral instruction, sketches, and blueprints derived from work orders as well as assisting the Facilities Director with the review of construction documents for both new and renovation projects
  • Assist with energy management duties in electrical, lighting, HVAC, controls, building infrastructures, and equipment
  • Participates in preventive maintenance program development and implementation.
  • Communicates work status and developments as an ongoing dialogue.
  • Identifies and corrects building deficiencies and hazards in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the building security as a standard practice while working within secure areas. Working with Security to ensure safety and health of building occupants, visitors, and employees.
  • Work areas are kept neat, clean, and safe at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including snow removal, moving heavy objects, cleaning, and helping other trades as needed or assigned by management.
  • Work from plans, work orders, oral instruction, sketches, and blueprints as well as assisting the Facilities Management with reviews of construction documents for both new and existing remodeling projects.
  • Working knowledge of Mass Electrical Code, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 70E, OSHA and other applicable requirements to ensure safe operations
  • Assist in managing energy management systems for all MEP systems as needed.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as may be assigned by the Facilities Director or as the situation dictates
Supervision Received:
Works under the supervision of the Facilities Director and the Deputy Facilities Director, or their designee.
Given:
Works with other trades on projects and occasionally Roving Utility workers to assist with larger jobs. Physical and Environment
  • Regular periods of physical activity requiring the ability to stand for long periods, walk, climb, bend, crawl, and lift, carry, and position objects. Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 50lbs. The ability to make a swift and responsible decision in an emergency or hazardous situation. Recommended Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid MA Driver's License
  • Current MA Journeyman Electricians License
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record check (CORI), and pre-employment medical examination and a reference check.
  • OSHA Certification a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials required for projects.
  • Ability to perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions relevant to the trade and the environment that work will be done.
  • Must have good oral and written skills.
  • Ability to safely use, clean and store tools of trade.

Pay:
$31.63 - $38.46 per hour
