Electrician Job Summary:
An Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and control systems. Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and repair needs. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using testing devices and tools. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Install and connect electrical panels, transformers, generators, and other electrical components. Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. Respond to emergency repair requests and service calls. Test electrical systems to verify proper operation and safety. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other trades on construction and renovation projects. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an electrician apprenticeship or vocational training program preferred. Valid electrician license or certification as required by state or local regulations. Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety procedures. Ability to read blueprints and technical documents. Valid driver's license may be required. Skills Electrical installation and repair Troubleshooting and diagnostics Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations Blueprint and schematic reading Attention to detail Problem-solving abilities Time management and organization Customer service and communication Safety awareness Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 pounds or more. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
