An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with the established scheduling system Inspect, diagnose, test, install, maintain and repair electrical equipment Conduct routine rounds of the facility and perform a variety of routine service and repair tasks to monitor and maintain electrical systems and equipment Make necessary repairs and maintain essential electrical life safety systems including but not limited to, fire alarm system, emergency generators, switchgear, transfer switches, etc. Complete in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC and Life Safety systems and equipment Participate in performance improvement and information management activities Investigate incidents involving the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components, utility system components and equipment and makes recommendations to supervisor Provide technical assistance to department staff by trouble shooting and resolving problems associated with the operation and repair of the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components and utility system components and equipment Perform periodic inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms and corrects physical plant, building and life safety deficiencies Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training :
High school diploma or equivalent required Trade or vocational school graduate required Electrician's license preferred Valid North Carolina driver's license required
Work Experience :
5 years of electrical maintenance related experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Ability to communicate with employees, patients, visitors, vendors, construction contractors
Physical Requirements :
