Licensed Electrician - Facilities Maintenance Position Summary The Licensed Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components throughout the hospital and associated facilities. This role ensures all electrical infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and healthcare standards. The position also supports general facility maintenance operations in all aspects of preventative, reactive, planned, and project related work. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and equipment. Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices and diagnostic tools. Maintain and service critical systems such as emergency generators, transfer switches, UPS systems, fire alarm systems, and nurse call systems. Perform preventive maintenance per facility schedules and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, Joint Commission, and local/state codes. Respond to urgent and emergency service calls, including after-hours/on-call as scheduled. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Coordinate electrical shutdowns with hospital leadership. Maintain accurate documentation in CMMS systems (e.g., Corrigo, WorxHub). Support inspections, surveys, and regulatory readiness. Assist with general maintenance duties and cross-trade support. Minimum Qualifications Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License. High school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience. Knowledge of NEC codes and healthcare standards. Preferred Qualifications Hospital or healthcare facility maintenance experience. Experience with emergency power systems and life safety systems. Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as Corrigo or Brightly WorxHub. Experience with building automation systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Effective communication skills. Understanding of infection control practices. Ability to read and interpret schematics. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders. Ability to work in confined spaces and mechanical rooms. Exposure to electrical hazards and varying temperatures. Work Environment Hospital and healthcare facilities including patient care areas. Must follow safety protocols, infection control procedures, and PPE requirements. Participation in on-call rotation may be required. Additional Expectations Maintain professional demeanor in patient areas. Adhere to hospital policies and safety standards. Support department goals related to safety and compliance.
