Job Description

Job Title:
Electrician Job Description This role focuses on commercial electrical work, including bending and installing conduit, pulling wire, wiring and installing commercial fixtures, and troubleshooting electrical systems. You will work from blueprints on highly regulated, high-profile retail and mixed-use commercial job sites, installing finish fixtures and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Install, bend, and secure EMT and other types of electrical conduit on open-concept ceilings. Pull electrical wire and complete all associated terminations according to project specifications. Wire and install commercial electrical fixtures, including high hats, outlets, lighting, and other finish fixtures. Read and interpret electrical blueprints to plan and execute installations accurately. Install and work with BX and MC cable as required on commercial projects. Install and connect switchgear and related electrical components as directed. Troubleshoot electrical systems and fixtures to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Follow directions precisely and complete assigned tasks independently or as part of a mechanic/junior electrician pair. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times on high-profile, highly regulated commercial job sites. Use appropriate hand tools and cordless drills to complete conduit, wiring, and fixture installations. Adhere to all OSHA 30 and PPE requirements at all times while on site. Present a professional demeanor and interact respectfully with site personnel and other trades. Support the installation of finish fixtures on retail and mixed-use commercial projects to meet project deadlines. Essential Skills Proven experience as a commercial electrician with strong conduit bending skills. Hands-on experience with electrical wiring and pulling wire on commercial job sites. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints accurately. Proficiency working with EMT conduit, BX, and MC cable. Experience wiring and installing commercial fixtures, including lighting, outlets, and high hats. Strong troubleshooting skills for commercial electrical systems and fixtures. Retail electrical experience on commercial projects. Ability to work independently and also effectively as part of a mechanic/junior electrician team. Capability to follow directions precisely and complete tasks to specification. Current OSHA 30 certification. Ownership of appropriate electrical hand tools and cordless drills. Professional attitude with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work space. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience installing finish commercial fixtures in retail and mixed-use environments. Familiarity with switchgear installation and related components. Comfort working on highly regulated commercial job sites with strict safety and cleanliness standards. Ability to adapt to different commercial locations and project types as needed. Work Environment The work takes place on commercial retail and mixed-use job sites, including locations such as retail stores and learning or innovation centers. These are highly regulated environments where OSHA 30 certification and the use of personal protective equipment are required at all times. The sites are clean, high-profile projects with open-concept ceilings where all conduit is exposed. You will use your own electrical hand tools and cordless drills to install conduit, pull wire, and set finish fixtures. Work arrangements may include pairing one mechanic with one junior electrician or teams of two mechanics, particularly on retail-focused projects. The environment requires professionalism, strict adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace throughout each assignment. Assignments may be short term with the strong possibility of continued work on additional job sites based on performance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverhead, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
