Electrician Job Description This role focuses on commercial renovation and new construction projects, where you install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in a variety of commercial buildings. You work from plans and prints provided by the general contractor to bend conduit, rough in wiring, and ensure that power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems operate safely and efficiently. You use a range of power tools, test meters, pipe threaders, and conduit benders while consistently following safety standards. Responsibilities Work on commercial renovation and new build construction projects to install and maintain electrical systems. Interpret and follow electrical plans, prints, and specifications provided by the general contractor. Bend conduit and pipe and perform rough-in conduit work according to project requirements. Run, pull, and terminate wire for power distribution, lighting, and control systems in commercial buildings. Provide wiring for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration units to ensure proper functionality. Use power tools, saws, drills, utility knives, and other equipment to complete electrical installations. Operate test meters, ohmmeters, and other testing tools to verify electrical continuity, safety, and system performance. Use pipe threaders and conduit benders to fabricate and install conduit runs to code and project standards. Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while working on active construction sites. Work effectively as part of a 2-4 person crew, coordinating tasks to meet project deadlines. Maintain and use personal hand tools and testing equipment required to perform daily duties. Keep work areas organized and ensure that installations meet applicable codes and quality standards. Essential Skills Proven commercial construction experience as an electrician, including work on renovations and new builds. Hands-on experience bending conduit and pipe for commercial electrical installations. Demonstrated ability to run and pull wire in commercial environments. Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems for power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and electrical prints. Experience using power tools such as saws and drills, as well as utility knives and related equipment. Proficiency with electrical testing tools, including ohmmeters and other test meters. Ability to use conduit benders and pipe threaders safely and effectively. Safety-oriented mindset with OSHA certification. Capability to provide and use your own basic tools and testing equipment at the start of employment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in 2-4 person crews on commercial new build and renovation projects, all located locally in the Rochester area. The standard schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. The role is based on active construction sites where you regularly use power tools, test meters, conduit benders, pipe threaders, and other electrical equipment. The environment is hands-on and field-based, with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and adherence to construction timelines and site procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
