About the Role As a Maintenance Electrician at Picoma, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment. This position directly impacts equipment quality, uptime, and overall production yield. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, thrives in a fast-paced industrial setting, and has a strong aptitude for electrical and mechanical systems. What You'll Do Performs electrical maintenance on production equipment while adhering to all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Ensures guards and safety mechanisms are properly installed and functional before returning equipment to service Monitors inventory levels for parts and supplies; places and verifies orders as necessary Utilizes manual and computerized maintenance management systems to track and report equipment status Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues Troubleshoots and resolves electrical and mechanical issues, escalating unresolved problems to supervisors Executes breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and changeovers to minimize downtime Observes and diagnoses issues using mechanical devices and precision instruments Fabricates replacement parts using standard machine shop tools Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety protocols Operates powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable lifting equipment Supports continuous improvement efforts and participates in team-based problem solving Complies with OSHA safety standards, including hazard communication, lockout procedures, and ergonomics Promotes a safety-first culture and adheres to all company policies and procedures Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor Who You Are Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in maintenance High school diploma or equivalent required; apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or equivalent training preferred Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs Effective communicator with basic math skills and the ability to read technical documentation Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a high-pressure environment Ability to pass job-related testing, physical exam, and drug screening Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and collaborative mindset Physical Abilities Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to stand or walk for extended periods throughout the shift Ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, and reach in all directions Other physical demands as required for the position What You'll Get Zekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low-cost, high-quality medical and dental benefits.
