• Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
• Job Description
• This role provides electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for complex research test facilities operating across a broad range of voltages.

You will work with detailed electrical schematics and prints to install, modify, and maintain electrical systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation of equipment used in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion testing. The standard schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with additional off-shift work during scheduled test campaigns.

• Responsibilities
• + Provide electrical installation and maintenance services for research test facilities operating at various voltage levels.

+ Work from detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and prints to install, modify, and repair electrical systems and components.

+ Measure, bend, and install electrical conduit, including complex conduit runs, to support new and existing installations.

+ Pull large and small gauge wiring and cable, ensuring proper routing, termination, labeling, and organization.

+ Install, modify, and maintain electrical panels, raceways, enclosures, and associated hardware in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

+ Support installation and maintenance of motor-driven equipment, including performing motor meggering and other diagnostic tests.

+ Install, troubleshoot, and maintain lighting systems and related electrical devices throughout test facilities.

+ Perform electrical system and circuit troubleshooting to identify faults and implement safe, effective repairs.

+ Work with high-voltage systems, voltage distribution equipment, and related protection devices, following all electrical safety practices.

+ Use electrical testing equipment to verify system performance, continuity, insulation resistance, and proper operation.

+ Read and interpret electrical schematics for AC and DC motors and associated control circuitry.

+ Assist with the setup of test facilities, including electrical preparations for scheduled test campaigns.

+ Participate in future training as required to obtain qualified operator status within specific test facilities.

+ Adhere to all safety procedures, including electrical safety protocols, lockout/tagout practices, and safe work methods around high-voltage equipment.

+ Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to support aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test operations.

• Essential Skills
• + Current journeyman electrician license or completion of a journeyman card program, or an associate degree in a related electrical field.

+ Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment used to diagnose and verify electrical systems and components.

+ Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics, prints, and wiring diagrams accurately.

+ Experience working with AC and DC motors, including understanding of their control and power circuits.

+ Proficiency in electrical conduit bending and installation for various types of runs and configurations.

+ Strong skills in pulling and terminating large and small gauge wiring and cable.

+ Experience installing and maintaining electrical panels, raceways, enclosures, and associated hardware.

+ Solid understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and voltage distribution in industrial or research environments.

+ Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including working around high-voltage equipment and following safe work procedures.

+ Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, circuits, and devices using schematics and test equipment.

+ Competence in working with wiring, pulling wire, and installing electrical devices in accordance with applicable standards.

• Work Environment
• You will work within the Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering team at a major research center, providing engineering and technical services in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities.

The standard work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. During test campaigns, which typically occur 4 to 6 times per year, you must be open to working off-shift on a structured rotation. A typical six-week test may include two weeks on day shift, two weeks on afternoon shift, and two weeks on night shift, with shift differentials of 7.5% for second shift and 10% for third shift. The environment is highly technical, with exposure to high-voltage electrical systems, complex test equipment, and specialized instrumentation. Work is performed in industrial and laboratory settings where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate attire, including any required personal protective equipment, is essential.

• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $39.

40 - $39.40/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
