Middletown Tube Works , Inc., a division of Phillips Tube Group Inc. , produces steel tube for highly engineered, severely fabricated and formed tube applications in the appliance, automotive, HVAC and recreational vehicle industries. As our company continues to thrive and grow, we are now seeking a Industrial Electrician Journeyman for our Middletown location! The Industrial Electrician Journeyman will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing any and all plant electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment. DUTIES:
Installs, maintains and repairs electric motors, fixtures, fittings and accessories. Installs conduit or tubing. Tests electrical equipment, such as motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions. Tests circuits, repairs malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning and motor replacement. Rigging and set-up for all operations. Perform electrical tasks with the ability to read blueprints, terminate cable, install and troubleshoot from drawings, and must be sufficient in rough-in work. Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
SKILLS:
Comprehend reading and drawing prints and schematics. Understand and communicate with both verbal and written skills. Troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment. Responsible for production support on uptime with equipment. Preventative MTCE on electrical systems. Bend conduit by hand with hand benders. Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders and knockout punches. Operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers. Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, blue prints and written instructions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts.
Switchgear installation and termination Layout and preparation for installation of machinery Motor and controls - troubleshooting
EQUIPMENT
Ability to use the tools of the trade in which the work is to be performed. Use and knowledge of testing equipment. Use of all hand tools common to electrical & mechanical trades. Employee will supply necessary hand tools and testing equipment to perform duties of General Maintenance position.
ACCURACY
Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Extreme caution in the repair of equipment due to high voltage and the delicate nature of some equipment. Must be accurate in the use of tools, layout of jobs.

EXPERIENCE
Requires high school graduation. Further schooling may be required to continue satisfactory performance in job classification. A minimum of three (3) years experience in an industrial environment is required with no certification in one of the five disciplines of maintenance experience.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head.

  • Work from all type of ladders up to 14' and be capable of carrying up to a 12' stepladder by one's self.

switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Added caution and safety are necessary at all times because of work with tools and equipment. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Safety precautions are extremely important around high voltage equipment.
