THE POSITION

Are you seeking an exciting opportunity to share your expertise in electrical installation and maintenance with a varied group of individuals? The Department of Corrections is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor to join our team. In this position, you will teach inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) in Pine Grove about the electrical trade. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Electrical Trades Instructor with the Department of Corrections, your role will involve teaching inmates the essential practices and techniques of the electrical trade at a journeyman level. This will be achieved through a combination of demonstrations, explanations, and close supervision during both training sessions and work assignments. You will provide instruction using both textbooks and hands-on training, covering the repair and construction of low and high voltage systems, including lighting, power outlets, conduit, underground circuits, switch boxes, breaker panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, electrical appliances, and generators. Additionally, you will plan and assign tasks to inmates, assist them at various training levels through effective communication and practical demonstrations, and review their work to ensure it meets the standards of the electrical trade. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

Other Requirements:
