Duties Install, repair, and maintain residential electrical systems in accordance with local electrical codes and NFPA 70 standards (National Electrical Code). Troubleshoot complex electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and circuit testers to identify faults quickly and accurately. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to guide installation and repair work. Perform high-voltage wiring tasks safely on residential or small commercial projects, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete electrical work efficiently and precisely. Conduct inspections of existing electrical systems to assess safety and functionality during renovations or routine maintenance. Adhere strictly to electrical safety procedures, including proper handling of low voltage and high-voltage systems, to protect yourself and clients. Requirements Proven experience as an electrician with a focus on residential service work; industrial or commercial experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of local electrical codes, NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and blueprint reading. Skilled in electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting electrical systems, and working with schematics. Experience with industrial electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), high-voltage wiring, and low-voltage systems is desirable. Ability to read electrical blueprints accurately and interpret schematics for installation or repair projects. Familiarity with construction site procedures, renovation projects, frame carpentry, handyman tasks, and construction experience preferred. Use of hand tools such as wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers; power tools including drills; testing equipment like ohmmeters; and high-voltage testing devices. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
