Job Description

The Packer Avenue Marine Terminal is operated by Greenwich Terminals LLC and is one of the most productive terminals in the United States. The facility employs 12 highly productive and safe in-house labor crews and offers 19 start times which creates greater flexibility for vessel departure and arrival times. This adds up to cargo being moved faster, discharged faster, and saves distributors time and money.
Position Overview:
A Philadelphia area stevedore and terminal operating company is seeking skilled Electro-Mechanical Technicians to join our team. Successful candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate strong technical expertise across electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate significant experience with electrical control circuits for three-phase and single-phase power, including troubleshooting techniques, electrical test equipment, circuit schematics, and machine control concepts Troubleshoot defects and malfunctions in electrical and mechanical systems, including relay logic, PLCs, electrical controls, networks, fiber optics, medium and low-voltage power systems, hydraulic systems, and crane motor drives Repair crane hardware including brake assemblies, integrated control modules, relay control circuits, generator controls, operator chairs, and container spreader bars Perform equipment modifications including DC drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor and gear replacements, and festoon replacements Read and interpret both electrical and hydraulic schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment Assist in the replacement of wire ropes, sheaves, crane wheels, and bearings Perform and follow preventive maintenance (PM) and lubrication schedules Conduct daily and monthly crane inspections Operate cranes for testing and inspection purposes and utilize crane diagnostic software Maintain clear communication with operations, maintenance management, and fellow technicians regarding schedules, evaluations, and repairs Ensure shop inventory is maintained and accurately tracked to support ongoing repairs and maintenance Perform work in all weather conditions, at extreme heights, in confined spaces, and in high-noise environments; role requires strenuous physical activity including climbing, bending, and lifting equipment in excess of 50 pounds Follow all safety rules and practices to ensure duties are performed in a consistently safe manner Maintain accuracy and completeness in all repairs and housekeeping responsibilities Perform other mechanical duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, computer and network skills, basic electronics, and machine control concepts Experience with hydraulic systems, crane operations, and terminal equipment preferred Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position Company is an equal opportunity employer and offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, paid vacation, and holidays.
