Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician to support the build, installation, and service of electrical control systems for retorts and processors. This role is hands-on and critical to both panel fabrication and field electrical work, ensuring reliable operation of industrial equipment from build through commissioning & beyond. The ideal candidate has strong experience with industrial control panels, understands electrical schematics, and is comfortable working on equipment in both shop and field environments — including general mechanical and electrical repairs in the field as needed, beyond controls-specific work. Key Responsibilities Control Panel Build & Assembly Build, wire, and assemble industrial control panels for retorts and processors Install components including contactors, relays, timers, PLCs, and safety devices Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts Perform point-to-point wiring, labeling, and verification Ensure panels are built to company standards, requirements, and applicable codes Equipment Electrical Work Perform electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair on processors and retorts Wire motors, sensors, actuators, burners, control devices, and other circuits Support commissioning, startup, and functional testing of equipment Diagnose electrical and control-related faults and implement corrective actions Assist with upgrades, retrofits, and field modifications as needed Perform standard field repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed, beyond controls/panel-specific issues Testing & Quality Conduct continuity checks, voltage testing, and basic control verification Identify wiring errors, component failures, or design issues prior to shipment or startup Maintain clean, organized panels and wiring practices Document changes and provide feedback for continuous improvement Collaboration & Support Work closely with engineers, technicians, and production teams Support service technicians during field installs or troubleshooting when required Maintain a strong safety mindset and follow all lockout/tagout procedures Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience building, wiring, or repairing industrial control panels and equipment Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Experience building and wiring industrial control panels Familiarity with motor controls, relays, contactors, timers, and basic PLC's Comfortable working in both shop and field environments, including general field repair and maintenance tasks Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
