Electrician - Residential & Light Commercial Generators Job Description This role is ideal for a licensed, experienced Electrician who enjoys a mix of hands-on electrical work and office-based oversight. You will focus on the electrical scope of residential and light commercial standby generator installations, ensure code-compliant work, support and guide field crews, and handle job review and scheduling tasks from the office. You will serve as the primary licensed electrician on staff, stepping in for complex electrical work while installation crews perform most of the physical installation. Responsibilities Perform electrical work related to standby generator installations for residential and light commercial properties. Swap and reconfigure circuits in electrical disconnects as part of generator installations. Complete electrical tie-ins and final connections for generator systems. Ensure all electrical work meets applicable electrical codes and safety standards. Serve as the primary licensed electrician on staff for required electrical tasks, performing approximately 20% hands-on electrical work while overseeing the remainder. Assign generator installation jobs to field crews and coordinate daily work schedules. Review completed jobs by examining job photos and documentation to verify quality, accuracy, and code compliance. Identify and address any deficiencies in completed installations and provide feedback to crews. Order and manage materials required for generator installations, ensuring crews have what they need on time. Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to installation crews as needed. Handle administrative duties related to job review, scheduling, and documentation from the office. Collaborate with field and office staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion. Drive to the designated facility each workday to pick up and return the company truck. Essential Skills Active electrician license suitable for performing residential and light commercial electrical work. Proven experience performing electrical work on generator systems or similar power equipment. Strong knowledge of electrical disconnects, circuits, and transfer switches. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams. Demonstrated ability to review electrical work for quality, accuracy, and code compliance. Experience running conduit, including PVC, rigid, and pipe, and pulling wire and cable. Proficiency working with cable tray systems. Capability to provide technical guidance and support to field crews. Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing multiple jobs and schedules. Comfort with administrative responsibilities such as job review, scheduling, and material management. Ability to work both in the field and in an office environment as needed. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company vehicle. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with residential and light commercial generator installations or similar standby power systems. Hands-on experience with wiring and terminations in a variety of electrical installations. Ability to use a voltmeter and other basic electrical testing equipment effectively. Ownership of basic electrical tools required for the job (e.g., hand tools, basic electrical tools, voltmeter). Strong communication skills to interact with field crews and office staff. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Comfort using basic office systems or software to review photos and documentation and manage schedules. Work Environment You will work in a mixed field and office environment, splitting time between installing generators at residential homes and performing office-based job review and scheduling tasks. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each workday begins and ends at a designated facility in Mount Pleasant, where you will pick up and return a company truck used for travel to job sites. Field work involves outdoor and indoor settings at customer residences and light commercial locations, including running conduit, pulling wire, and performing wiring and final connections. Office work includes reviewing electrical photos and documentation on a computer, verifying code compliance, and coordinating schedules and materials. Standard electrical tools and a voltmeter are required and are provided by you, while the company supplies the truck and necessary installation materials.
