Electrician

The City of Pierre is seeking a skilled and dependable Electrician to join our team and help maintain the infrastructure that makes Pierre a great place to live, work, and visit. This position performs a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair duties in support of City facilities, streets, and public systems.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in municipal buildings and facilities. Perform wiring for new construction and renovation projects. Install, maintain, and repair lighting systems, including light fixtures, outlets, switches, and controls. Maintain and repair traffic signals, street lighting, and other City-owned electrical infrastructure. Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure safe and reliable electrical operations. Diagnose electrical issues and perform timely repairs. Review plans, specifications, and blueprints for electrical projects (preferred). Order electrical parts, materials, and supplies as needed. Ensure work complies with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulations. Provide professional customer service to City departments and the public. Qualifications Thorough knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, and tools used in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance. Valid Class A Electrical Contractor License . Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. Experience with traffic signals and street light installation and maintenance preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and blueprints preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

WAGE:

$43.57/hr plus comprehensive benefit package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental and life insurance along with a 6% employer match to the South Dakota Retirement System and 12 paid holidays.
