Industrial Electrician (Lead-Level) Job Description This role focuses on industrial electrical work within active manufacturing facilities, with a strong emphasis on running and bending conduit, installing and terminating power to industrial equipment, and working at height from lifts. The position suits an experienced industrial electrician who confidently reads blueprints and electrical documentation, understands circuitry in depth, and can lead small crews on complex projects. You will support ongoing projects with consistent work and may have opportunities to transition to new sites as projects are completed. Responsibilities Run and bend EMT conduit for industrial electrical installations, including overhead conduit runs. Pull MC cable and other conductors to supply power to various types of industrial equipment. Terminate power on multiple pieces of equipment, ensuring safe and code-compliant connections. Move, install, and hook up industrial machinery, including 100 amp welders and other equipment. Run conduit into machinery and out of hot panels, ensuring neat, organized, and accessible installations. Work from boom lifts, often up to 40 feet, to run overhead conduit and pull wire safely and efficiently. Read and interpret equipment and motor instructions to determine required wire sizes based on voltage and amperage. Install, troubleshoot, modify, and repair electrical circuits within an industrial environment. Read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics to plan and execute installations accurately. Examine motors and equipment to determine amperage requirements and appropriate wire size and type. Lead or supervise a crew of up to four electricians, providing direction, quality control, and on-the-job training as needed. Coordinate with site leadership to understand project timelines, requirements, and priorities. Maintain a professional demeanor while working around facility employees and within active manufacturing operations. Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of boom lifts and adherence to OSHA standards. Prepare to take over project leadership responsibilities once the current foreman transitions to another project, ensuring continuity of work and standards. Essential Skills At least 7 years of industrial electrical experience. Strong understanding of electrical circuitry and the ability to troubleshoot and modify circuits. Proven experience running and bending EMT conduit confidently and independently. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation. Experience installing, terminating, and powering industrial equipment and machinery. Hands-on experience operating boom lifts, including working comfortably up to 40 feet in the air. Ability to determine appropriate wire sizes based on voltage and amperage requirements for equipment and motors. Capability to install, troubleshoot, modify, and repair electrical circuits in an industrial setting. Familiarity with OSHA safety practices. Professional communication and conduct when working within an active manufacturing facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications Boom lift certifications, which are a significant plus for this role. Experience installing industrial machinery, including complex equipment hookups. Experience bending and running rigid conduit, which is preferred but not required. Prior experience in lead-level or foreman-track roles on industrial electrical projects. Comfort working around hot panels and energized equipment while following safety protocols. Flexibility to work on both contract and potential long-term assignments depending on performance. Willingness to transition to other projects or facilities, such as automotive or dealership environments, after current projects are completed. Why Work Here? You will join a team that offers consistent, ongoing projects and values strong performance by extending opportunities as long as you deliver quality work. Once you convert to a permanent role, you receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical coverage, a 401(k) plan, five sick PTO days per year, one week of vacation PTO after six months, and two weeks of vacation PTO after two years, along with multiple paid holidays. The organization supports both permanent and contract-focused career paths, giving you flexibility in how you structure your work life. You will work in professional, modern facilities, with some projects offering air-conditioned environments and opportunities to move to new, high-profile sites as projects conclude. Work Environment This role is based in industrial and manufacturing facilities in the Portland, TN area, with projects running at multiple sites. Typical hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., depending on the specific project location. You will frequently work from boom lifts, often up to 40 feet high, to run overhead conduit and pull wire, so comfort with heights and lift operation is essential. The work involves installing and hooking up industrial equipment, including 100 amp welders and other machinery, running conduit out of hot panels, and performing terminations on live equipment in a controlled and safe manner. One project offers an air-conditioned environment, providing a more comfortable setting during warmer months. You will work inside active manufacturing facilities alongside company employees and are expected to present yourself in a professional manner at all times. The employer seeks lead-level candidates who can eventually run projects as current foremen transition to new assignments.
