Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Installs electrical components on boilers and auxiliary equipment following a wire list or point-to-point wiring diagrams. Able to ring out wiring on a non-energized circuit. Pulls wires and terminates connections. Selects the appropriate enclosures and electrical fittings as applicable to NEMA 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, and 12 from a working knowledge of the NEMA rating system. Perform routine repair and/or maintenance on shop facility equipment and tools. Completes appropriate maintenance/repair forms and records. Works with 110 volts exclusively and up to 480v with supervision required. Interprets basic electrical blueprints. Assists other mechanics or electricians as required. Keeps work area clean. Sweeps and puts shop tools back in their proper place. Performs routine maintenance and/or repair work on shop equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Basic knowledge of boilers and/or related mechanical equipment. Basic knowledge of fabrication, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, and NEC codes. Must be able to perform Mechanic 1 duties. Ability to properly utilize basic hand tools and shop equipment, including electrical installation equipment, millimeter, megger and hydraulic bender.
